The Nature Education Centre's role is to sell and lend natural history specimens and equipment to it's members so that children are encouraged to study animals and plants and their habitats by coming into direct contact with them.

The Centre is open Monday to Saturday from 1:30pm till 5:30pm including school holidays (apart from Public Holidays and three weeks over the Christmas-New Year period).

School visiting times are weekdays from 10am till 2pm by appointment.

The Display Room may be used for staff meetings. A short talk can be given by the Education Officer on school visits, borrowing procedures for animals, kits and preserved specimens. There is a small fee for this service.

School groups may visit the Nature Education Centre to see the animals we have, to experience handling some of these animals and to learn about them, their habits, their food and the care they need.

A NEC Education Officer is available to conduct these visits to the NEC and to present one-hour talks on a variety of ecological and biological topics between 10am and 2pm weekdays.

Visit, Handle and Talk - $5.00 per student for member schools, $5.50 for non-member schools

Minimum Charge - $100.00
